In essence, it gives you a bird’s eye view of your keyword’s competition google ranking api . It also shows you if the keyword is in the top ten for a particular domain and how much competition there is for that keyword.
Some other useful tools for checking your keyword position in Google organic results are called Keywordspy and Wordtracker. Both of these tools enable you to search for the top searches for a particular keyword phrase and tell you the position that you currently have in Google’s organic search rankings. Wordtracker is a little more time consuming. You have to enter in a large number of search terms and then it will take care of the low competition keywords for you. Keywordspy is a little simpler to use and it just gives you a list of all the available keyword phrases for any given term. This gives you an idea of your competition and what the traffic for these keywords is like.
At the end of the day, even if you do manage to get your keyword to the top three of Google’s rankings, this doesn’t mean that your site will necessarily rank well in Google’s other products. For example, if you enter in some obscure keyword such as “dog training”, then most likely your site will not be found in the search results. People looking for dog training will search for something like “dogs training” or “how to train your dog properly”. Hence, it is very important that you target your keywords correctly.
